Allerton Park Interchange is junction 47 of the A1(M).
The T junction in 1960. Note the Flaxby turn also.
Originally this was a T-junction on the A1, where the A59 met it from the east, with that road multiplexing to a junction slightly north. Nothing changed when the A1 was dualled in 1960, but the junction was grade-separated in 1971 when the A59 to the west was diverted to meet the A1 at this junction, removing the multiplex.
The junction has been modified twice. First, with the upgrade of A1 to A1(M), which opened in 1995 and more recently with improvements to increase capacity which also included signalisation of the nearby LAR Link road Junction and widening of the road eastbound to two lanes between the roundabout and the roundabout next to Flaxby moor industrial site .
