The Silverlink Interchange is a three level stacked roundabout interchange.
Originally this interchange had two levels, the A1058 flew over the roundabout and the A19, Silverlink turnoff connected at ground level. This caused traffic problems as traffic coming to and from the Tyne Tunnel had to stop at the roundabout. Due to this a new three layered junction was built.
Work on this new grade separated junction started in summer 2016 and finished in spring 2019. Now the A1058 still flies over but now the A19 flies under the roundabout.
