Cow Hill Interchange is an intermediate junction on the A167 Newcastle North-West Radial at Town Moor.

History

The junction in the 1951

The temporary roundabout in 1968

The junction was originally a simple T junction between B6338 and B6339.

Stage 1 of the North-West Radial opened in June 1967 with a temporary at-grade roundabout. The interchange overbridge was built in 1972 and 1973 in anticipation of the south-eastern extension of the North-West radial. This was completed in February 1976 per the Land Compensation Act notice.

North-West Radial was originally A696 and later renumbered to A167. B6339 was later renumbered A189 and B6338 Claremont Road became unclassified.
