A Magic Gyratory is a junction that is functionally identical to a Magic Roundabout, but differs in that it is a ring of standard roundabouts, connected by lengths of roadway. As such, they are much larger than a Magic Roundabout.
It is also less confusing to drivers than a Magic Roundabout, and indeed drivers may not be aware that there is anything unusual about the junction.
Magic Gyratories can be found at the following locations:
- Churchbridge, Staffordshire (modified variant)
- Denham Roundabout, Buckinghamshire
- Sadlers Farm, Essex
- The Egg, Tamworth, Staffordshire
- The A82 at Inverness - formed by the Tomnahurich Roundabout, Torvean Roundabout and Queens Park Roundabout, this allows A82 traffic to use either of two swing bridges to cross the Caledonian Canal. With both bridges available it works as a Magic Gyratory, but when one bridge is swung for canal traffic the other is used for A82 traffic.
