This ferry operates a service from Kirkwall on the Orkney mainland to the island of North Ronaldsay, taking 2 hours and 40 minutes. Being a small outlying island with a population of less than 100, it is only served by a weekly service from Kirkwall (sometimes more regularly in summer), which provides passenger, cargo and a "lift on - lift off" vehicular ferry service.
A more regular crossing to North Ronaldsay is made by the Loganair "Islander" aircraft, which run two or three times a day.
