Widnes Loops Junction is a grade separated roundabout interchange, with south to eastbound slip roads to the A533 only, directly onto the Northern approach viaduct for the Mersey Gateway Bridge. It was constructed during the mid-2010s for the tie-in of the construction of the bridge, providing access to Widnes and easterly traffic via the north of the roundabout where it meets Queensway (A557).
At the southwest of the roundabout, there are two separate exits for West Bank (left/south) and straight on (signed Mersey Multimodal Gateway), which form a short link road (John Collins Way) to a traffic light junction on Waterloo Road. Following Waterloo Road southbound into West Bank leads to slip roads onto the other section of Queensway (A557) approaching the Silver Jubilee Bridge. Queensway was split into two in order to build the Mersey Gateway's approach embankment across Widnes from the former Ditton Roundabout.
