Starting on the A58 in Ripponden, the road heads southeast to cross the River Ryburn before climbing steeply. On the edge of town the road bends sharply to the left. This road is called Ripponden New Bank; the top of the narrower, steeper and more direct Ripponden Old Bank is soon passed on the left and the B6113 continues onto the moors.
After skirting the northern edge of the village of Barkisland the road continues northeastwards along relatively (for the B6113) flat terrain, although the road has already started to descend. After Greetland Wall Nook it bends to the right and descends more steeply into Greetland itself. At the bottom of the hill the road crosses a stream and then the B6112 at traffic lights in West Vale. The B6113 continues for a short distance before merging with the B6114, which comes in from the right.
