Cockpen Road Roundabout is the junction where the B704 crosses the Bonnyrigg Distributor road, a south eastern bypass to the town which was built in the 2000s. It is a simple four arm junction, with the two routes crossing roughly at right angles, although the south eastern arm of the B704 soon curves to the south around the nearby cemetery. The new road was built to facilitate development around the growing town, but to date fields survive on its eastern side. Each of the four arms widens to two lanes on the approaches, although not all are lined as such.
