Sourlie Roundabout is a small three arm roundabout junction on the edge of the new town of Irvine. It marks the point where the A736 turns from its historic route south into the town centre and instead heads west along the new-build Cairnmount Road, which curves through an area of woodland which is part of a nature reserve. The old route of the A736 along Lochilbo Road, which heads south to Lawthorn and Girdle Toll is now unclassified and has pinch points and speed humps to deter its use.
