Towerlands Roundabout is a junction in the new town of Irvine. It was originally planned as a folded dumbbell. When built it consisted of just the slip roads, the western roundabout and earthworks to allow future construction of the bridge. A gap in the central reservation was provided to allow all turning movements to be made in lieu of the bridge. This layout remained until the late 1980s/early 90s when the gap was replaced with the current roundabout. Some time after this the original roundabout on the western side of the junction was removed along with the earthworks for the bridge.
