Wapping Bridge Roundabout is a roundabout on the A183 to the west of Sunderland. It was built in the mid-2000s as part of the proposed Central Route, a new-build bypass for the A182 which was planned to run via Wapping Bridge, through the former Lambton Cokeworks site to reach the B1284 near Rainton Bridge and hence the A690. The scheme was shelved in 2011, with only the section between Wapping Bridge and the A182 at Biddick Hall having been completed.
Upon opening, the A183 was moved onto the new construction, rejoining its old route at Shiney Row after a brief multiplex with the A182. The former, more built-up route of the A183 between Wapping Bridge and Shiney Row became the B1519. The exit to the Central Route south of the junction is now in use to access a modern housing estate.
