Wyke Lion Crossroads is the junction of the A58 and the A641 . Locally, this junction is often referred to as Hellfire Crossroads. It is probably not a coincidence this junction used to be a particularly notorious accident black spot, given that peripheral visibility from all directions is poor, forward visibility on the eastbound A58 is nearly non-existent, and traffic on the A58 was much faster than traffic on the A641. The installation of signals in the 1990s led to a considerable improvement of its safety.
