Halifax is a medium-sized market town and Primary Destination in the historic West Riding of Yorkshire. Historically always a busy crossroads on what is now the A58 and A629, the town became a dominant force in the textiles trade and the historic Piece Hall is a legacy of this past. Major attractions today also include the Eureka! national museum for children.
Its most well-known road feature is Burdock Way; an extremely ambitious incomplete inner relief road. Percy Shaw, inventor of the Cat's Eye, lived in Halifax and set up the factory for the first Reflecting Roads Studs factory on Boothtown Road A647. It is still there today.
