The Chelmsford North East Bypass was a planned scheme running around the north east of Chelmsford, connecting to Boreham Interchange on the A12. It serves a dual purpose of facilitating development and bypassing the town.

The road was planned to be built as single carriageway, with provision for dualling and grade separation of the roundabouts. The scheme also planned a short section of the A131 at the north being converted to a modern dual carriageway. It was expected that the planning application would be submitted in Spring 2021.

Opening

A route via Channels Drive and Beaulieu Parkway formed the bypass. Beaulieu Parkway was fully opened on 30 October 2023 following the opening of Boreham Bridge at A12 Boreham Interchange. It became A131.
