This article is about the original A1016 to the south of Chelmsford.
For the current A1016 to the west of Chelmsford, see A1016.
For the disputed A1016 in Shoeburyness, see A1016 (Shoeburyness).
For the current A1016 to the west of Chelmsford, see A1016.
For the disputed A1016 in Shoeburyness, see A1016 (Shoeburyness).
The original route of the A1016 was a short section of road between the A122 and A12 to the south of Chelmsford town centre before any bypasses were thought of.
It is likely that the A1016 number disappeared when the first A12 eastern bypass (now the A1114/A138) was built and the road was taken over as part of the A1113. It is now part of the B1007.
