The A1251 forms the southern and eastern sections of the Romford ring road. The road number does not appear on signs but it is D2 in its entirety.
The road starts on the southern edge of the town centre by turning east off the A125 along Oldchurch Road, which becomes Thurloe Gardens after the first set of traffic lights. The road bends to the left cutting across terraces of houses, showing it was built simply by drawing a line on a map.
By the next set of traffic lights we are heading northwards. There is a tunnel under the Great Eastern Main Line before we cross the first roundabout on our route. We continue north on Mercury Gardens, through a retail development, to end at the next roundabout on the A118.
