Junctions related to the A899

Almond Interchange sits on the A899 in Livingston immediately to the north of the Almond Valley Bridge, and connects with three suburban distributor roads serving the surrounding suburbs. It also, indirectly, connects to the B7015, via the Almond Link Road. The A899 is shown as under construction on the 1969 OS Quarter Inch Map, with the junction complete in its current form by 1974.

A pair of closely spaced LILO sliproads lie opposite each other on the A899, connected by a road passing under the northern end of the Almond Valley Bridge a short distance to the south. To the east of the A899, the sliproads meet the connecting road at a mini roundabout with Almond Road, while on the west side a simple give way junction meets Howden East Road. In the south west corner, next to the underbridge, the Almond Link Road heads south west to the B7015.

When the junction was originally built, the A705 had a spur to the junction, along the Almond Link Road. The route was subsequently re-routed further north to Cousland Interchange, with the B7015 taking over the former A705 route, albeit without the spur.
