Centre Interchange sits on the A899 in Livingston immediately to the south of the Almond Valley Bridge, and connects with the new Town Centre area of the new town. The A899 is shown as under construction on the 1969 OS Quarter Inch Map, with the junction complete in its current form by 1974, however the OS One Inch sheet of that year marks the junction without any connecting roads in place.
The junction is a highly unusual design, forming part of a one-way system, resulting in the sliproads taking unusual lines. The southbound offslip curves back on itself to pass under the Almond Valley Bridge parallel to, but without touching the B7015. It then merges with the northbound offslip along Centre Road North to reach Town Centre Roundabout at the north east corner of the Town Centre block. Almondvale Drive then heads south to Burnside Roundabout, from where Centre Road south heads east as a one-way road to provide the two onslips, in a fairly normal (half) Trumpet layout. Along the way, a sliproad forks left to join the northbound offslip, and so complete the anti clockwise gyratory. The onslips also pass under this offslip before forking.
