Dechmont Roundabout lies towards the western end of the original Broxburn and Uphall bypass, and connects the A89 and the A899. As originally built, there was no junction on the bypass here, as the two routes met further west beyond Dechmont village. However, with the construction of the M8, and the development of the new town of Livingston, the A899 was extended south to connect motorway and new town together. This naturally required a junction with the A89 where the two routes cross, and the junction appears to have been a roundabout from the start. A fifth arm has been squeezed in to the south east corner of the roundabout, which is signposted to Business Park, but really only serves a garden centre. The old fork junction further west survives, although the road through Dechmont is now unclassified.
