The C47 is a difficult route to pin down, with the official council lists only giving a vague idea of where it runs. However, the most plausible route from the information available is that it starts on the B8028 at Hallglen and heads south over the canal and past Glen Farm. Curving round the Cleuch Plantation, the road turns south again to meet the C2 west of Shieldhill.
