Hoole Island Junction is junction 12 of the M53. It was built on the site of Hoole Farm.
It is the end (or beginning) of the M53 and the beginning (or end) of the A55. It does not have a number as an A55 junction; if it did it would be junction 41.
The junction was partially built in 1982 when the M53 was extended to Hoole. Space was left for the future flyover. The A55 and flyover were added in 1991.
