Keith Street Roundabout is the junction between the A72 and the A723 on the east side of the Hamilton inner ring road. It is a large four arm signalised junction, where Keith Street itself is an unclassified route into the town centre, which is ultimately a no through road heading away from the roundabout. The A723 is the main route through the junction, approaching from the south west in a short multiplex with the A72. This two lane dual carriageway then departs eastwards as a three lane dual carriageway, which very quickly reaches the sliproads for Hamilton Interchange, Junction 6 of the M74. The northern arm of the A72 is also dualled as it forms the eastern flank of the ring road, which passes through the town's larger retail park.

Before the ring road was built, there was no junction here. However, there were plans for the current junction to be even larger. The A723 to the east is the only part of the proposed Hamilton - Cumbernauld Motorway which was built to any extent, with the large, freeflow Hamilton Interchange designed to connect the two motorways. As the proposed route approached Hamilton, it would have passed through another large grade separated junction at this location. The junction would probably have seen the proposed motorway pass over a roundabout, but the close proximity to the M74 junction would surely have caused weaving issues between the sliproads. The flare in the sliproads may have been provided to accommodate the mainline soaring overhead, but it was due to curve southwards towards the Avon Water, so this flare may just be coincidence.
