Junctions related to the A721 | |||
The junction at Kirkdean is the eastern end of the A721, which has crossed Lanarkshire from the edge of Glasgow. It is a slightly staggered crossroads where the A72 has priority, and a minor road (now signed as no motor vehicles except for access) heads east opposite the A721. This minor road serves the few, scattered properties of Kirkurd, but could also potentially be used as a shortcut for A72 traffic, which is presumably why the signs have been installed. The A701 also passes through this junction, as the junior partner in a multiplex with the A72.
