Starting at a double set of traffic lights on the A6, the A5071 starts as Moor Lane and passes by several student accomodation blocks on its way to the University of Central Lancashire where it meets the A583. After negotiating a large roundabout, the road continues as Corporation Street, passing University buildings and a shopping park until it meets with Ringway, its terminus.
