Burghmuir Interchange is junction 3 of the M9. It lies at the east end of Linlithgow, and so provides east facing slips onto the motorway for traffic heading to / from Edinburgh. Although also serving Bo'Ness to the north on the Firth of Forth, but both towns have good connections to the M9 to the west, so there was no need for west facing slips here. Burghmuir is, however, paired with Philpstoun Interchange, J2. Unusually though this lies a couple of miles further east meaning that the sliproads are facing each other, but not close enough to cause weaving issues.
Immediately to the north, Champany Junction marks the eastern end of the A803, with the A904 continuing east alongside the motorway.
