For the junction that, up to June 2011, was numbered junction 2, see Carmyle Avenue Interchange.
For the original junction 2, see Canderside Toll.
Cambuslang Road Junction is junction 2 of the M74, and was opened as part of the M74 extension in 2011. The junction is a signalised diamond below the motorway, with the A724 passing under at a significant skew. It also widens to a dual carriageway as it passes through the junction, widening to three lanes in either direction under the M74 to provide right turn lanes. The central reservation of the A724 also allows a series of supporting columns under the bridge structure, matching those on either side. Each of the motorway sliproads is split as it meets the A724 to accommodate turning traffic, with the eastbound offslip widening to three lanes, as the majority of traffic is turning right. The westbound offslip has just two lanes, while the onslips both merge into a single lane, the timing of the signals minimising any conflict.
