The is the M621 just before J7. It was formerly the Londonbound M1

Spur into Leeds between M1 and M62. The western section was originally allocated the number M65, whilst the eastern section was part of the M1 until 18 September 1998.

Due to this planning as two separate motorways, the junction between the two (at the present junction 3) features a single-lane section westbound, along with a right-hand entry.

  • The M621 Motorway (off side lane prohibition disapplication) Regulations 2023 - This instrument disapplies regulation 12 of the Motorways Traffic (England and Wales) Regulations 1982 (‘Regulation 12’) in relation to specified lengths of the westbound carriageway of the M621 motorway. Regulation 12 prohibits certain vehicles from using the off side lane (right hand lane) of a motorway carriageway with three or more lanes, where all lanes are open for use by traffic proceeding in the same direction
