London Gateway Port is a developing container port and logistics hub on the Thames Estuary. It was unsuccessfully proposed as a Primary Destination by Thurrock Council in 2011 - rejected due to the then-current lack of traffic for the port (which didn't open until November 2013).

A new D2 link road was constructed from Stanford-le-Hope, providing a more direct link to the western end of the site, while the A1014 dual carriageway continues to serve the former Coryton Oil Refinery at the eastern end. The port has part-funded A13 widening [1]. While it will increase road traffic, the port seeks to move a lot of frieght by rail - with a publicity-stunt rail freight service from China terminating at the site in April 2017, one month after the first warehouse opened in the logistics hub.
