The R170 in County Louth is a cross-country connection running from the N2 at Ardee through the small town of Dunleer to a junction with the R166 at Murrays Cross. There is a partial interchange with the M1 at Junction 13 of the motorway 1.5 km northwest of Dunleer (access to the M1 southbound only; exit from the M1 northbound only).
With the construction of the faster and largely parallel N33 from the M1 to Ardee, the R170 is nowadays really of interest to local traffic only.
