Wadebridge is a town in northern Cornwall, bypassed by the A39.
The town is the lowest bridging point of the River Camel, which turns into an estuary beyond here, and so has been an important meeting point for roads. A bypass opened in June 1991, designed by Balfour Beatty and costing around £8.3 million. This takes traffic for the A39 and the A389 to Bodmin and Padstow, allowing all this to avoid the town centre and the historic old bridge.
