History
Before Cornwall's cathedral city got its bypass, the A39 passed through the centre, multiplexing with the A390 from the east to the split. The A39 has now been rerouted along the old A3076, which used to terminate a mile or so to the east of the city. The construction of the bypass also killed off the former B3286.
