The C79 follows the central part of St Ninians Road to the south of Stirling city centre. It is the historic route of the A9 into the city, although long since bypassed. The route now starts at a signal controlled TOTSO on the B8051 at Snowdon Place, and runs north to another signalised junction, with the former A811 at Wellgreen.
