Doncaster Sheffield Airport is an major airport serving south Yorkshire and the north East Midlands. It was formerly branded 'Robin Hood' due to its proximity to Sherwood Forest.
The A614 was diverted around it when it was still RAF Finningley. The A6182 link road from the M18 to Parrots Corner opened in Feb 2016, with the link extending to Hurst Lane in June 2018.
The closure of Doncaster Sheffield Airport was announced in September 2022. After a short consultation, the last scheduled flights landed on 4th November 2022. As no buyer for the airport had been found, Peel Airports closed the airport on the 4th November 2022. Its future is uncertain.
