For the short-lived B664 through Corby, see B664 (Corby).
For the current B664 from Market Harborough to Uppingham, see B664.
The B664 is described in the 1922 Road Lists as Link at Irthlingborough Station joining A6 and B663.
The road cut off the northwest corner between these two roads just south of Irthlingborough (whose station was closed in the 1960s and no longer exists), meaning traffic did not have to take the longer route via Higham Ferrers to the south. The B663 here now follows the present route of the A45.
The road was quickly upgraded to Class I status; it had become part of the A605 by the 1950s and possibly had this number by the end of the 1920s.
With the construction of the current route of the A45 the ex-B664 was completely destroyed and has been assimilated into the surrounding fields. The road is no longer visible, except as a faint line seen from the air - but you have to know what you're looking for. It isn't even a public right of way any more.
