Scissors Crossover' is junction 26 of the M60 and was junction 14 of the M63. It opened in 1989.
This crossover applies in a clockwise direction only.
The junction was a rather late addition to the M63 proposals. Until the mid 1980s Portwood Roundabout would have had east facing slips and Bredbury Interchange would have had a clockwise entry slip in addition to the existing anticlockwise exit slip. This would have created a weaving section exacerbated by local traffic travelling between the two junctions. As a result Crookilley Way was added to cater for local traffic leaving the motorway for longer distance traffic.
