Castletown is one of the larger towns on the Isle of Man, situated in the south eastern corner of the island. It is an old town set around the old Castle Rushen and harbour at the mouth of the Silver Burn, as it flows out into Castletown Bay. Ronaldsway Airport lies immediately to the north east of the town, across the neck of Langness, a low lying T shaped headland sticking out into the sea.
The A5 to the west of Castletown
The main road through the town is the A5 which comes in from the north, from Douglas, through Ballasalla and past the airport. It then turns and heads west along the south shore of the island to Port Erin in the south west corner. The A3 also comes in from the north, having crossed the island from St Johns near Peel. The A12 heads east along the shore to Derbyhaven and Langness, while the A28 heads north a little to the west to Ballabeg. There are no classified roads in the town centre, although the original route of the A7 did pass through.
