County Gates Gyratory is the name of the junction which marks the end of the Wessex Way route through Bournemouth, and the end of the A338's useless multiplex with the A35.
Three sides of the junction were already there before the Wessex Way was built. There was even a bus station on the eastern side. A western side to the junction was built in the 1960s, at which point the large houses in the middle were turned into offices. A new exit was provided to the north, which was used by Wessex Way when it opened.
The County Gates (and County Gates Lodge) were positioned in the north-east corner of the junction. The name refers to the traditional boundary between Hampshire and Dorset.
