Breich Crossroads is the junction of the A71 and the A706 to the south west of the small village of Breich. The two routes cross at right angles, the A71 running generally east-west, while the A706 runs north-south at this point. It is a signalised junction which lies alongside the railway line next to Breich Station, with the northern arm of the A706 crossing over the railway immediately, giving a slightly elevated feel to the whole junction. The proximity of the railway and station, and commercial yards on the west side of the junction make it a tight crossroads without much room for improvements, leaving each of the four arms with a single approach and departure lane. At peak times this can cause queues with perhaps two or three phases of the lights needed to pass through. The yard in the north west corner of the junction is the former site of the Breich Inn, demolished c2010.
