The Galston Roundabout lies on the A71 Galston Bypass at the point where it crosses the A719. It was built as part of the bypass project in 1981 on the site of a former T junction. The bypass is the short section of A71 to the west, which crosses the River Irvine, with the A71 and A719 formerly multiplexing south across Galston Bridge and through the town. The roundabout is a simple four arm junction with single approach and departure lanes on all but the eastern arm of the A71. This has two approach lanes, separating traffic turning into Galston. A short distance to the west of the junction, a footbridge crosses over the A71, connecting the town to its High School which sits a short distance to the north.
