The C24 starts on the A735 near the centre of Kilmarnock and heads west along West Langlands Street and Bonnyton Road to cross the B7064. Continuing west, the route leaves the town behind and soon comes to the B751 at Knockentiber. After a dogleg to the left, the route then continues to reach the council boundary, with the road continuing to the B769.
