For other roads numbered C7, see C7.
The C7 starts on the A726 in the busy town centre of Paisley. Heading north, the road passes under the M8 and passes by Glasgow Airport. The end of the road is at a junction with the A8 on a narrow neck of land between Black Cart Water and White Cart Water.
Route
Love Street
The route starts at a realigned signalised junction with Love Street and the A726 Niddry Street at the north side of Paisley Ring Road, on the fringes of the town centre.
It is urban in nature for the length of Love Street which extends for 600 metres to another signalised junction at Springbank Street.
St Mirren FC's former Love Street ground was a prominent landmark alongside the route until it was demolished in 2009, at which time a new stadium opened in nearby Ferguslie Park. Houses now stand on the site of the old football stadium, part of a wider regeneration of this part of paisley.
Inchinnan Road
At Springbank Road, the route becomes Inchinnan Road, which continues for around 950m to a roundabout at Sanderling Road, which is the junction for Glasgow Airport.
The first 100m is dual carriageway, with new houses on the left and the distinctive red brick former Ronald, Jack & Company carpet factory (now in residential use) on the right.
Inchinnan Road has been the scene of major urban redevelopments since the mid 2000s, which has seen the demolition of old tenements and schools and the construction of new houses, schools and business premises. This redevelopment continues at the time of writing in July 2021.
Abbotsinch Road
The route becomes Abbotsinch Road at the roundabout where Sanderling Road leads off to the left to Glasgow Airport.
Shortly after the roundabout, the road passes under the M8 White Cart Viaduct, after which airport related buildings and facilities, including car parks and transport warehouses, line both sides of the road.
The airport continues on the left for the remainder of the road, where hangars eventually give way to the open space of the airfield.
On the right side of the road, the farmland is being developed to create a new business area known as Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland. This major development will result in the realignment of Abbotsinch Road from a new roundabout already constructed at the Scottish Ambulance Service hangar to the junction with the A8.
