The B772 was a short link road in Paisley. It started on the A737 at the junction of Ferguslie and Broomlands Street and headed east along the full length of George Street. It met both the B775 and B774 along the way, before kinking right and left on Johnston Street. It then came to an end on the A726, Lonend.
Starting in the late 1960s, the route was upgraded to become part of the Paisley relief road, which was subsequently renumbered as the A761. The western end of the B772 was dualled online whilst the eastern half has been bypassed by the construction of a new dual carriageway, partly using existing roads, to the south and so is unclassified. The progression of works can be traced in the map extracts below. These show that for a period of time around 1968, the B772 had to cut back on to its original eastern end via Wardop Street and Causeyside Street, presumably some form of one-way system was in place here. Hammills Bridge across the White Cart Water was the last part of the relief road to be completed, and presumably the route became an A road soon after. Initially this would have been the A737, but it was renumbered as the A761 when the A737 was diverted to meet the motorway near Glasgow Airport in 1992.
