There appears to be some confusion in the history of Cambuslang Bridge. There are two bridges spanning the River Clyde here, neither of which carries traffic any more. One is lined up with Cambuslang Road, retains road markings and was until the modern Clydeford Road Bridge opened the route of the A763. The other lies on the downstream side and is shown on old maps as carrying a railway line. Both are now pedestrian bridges, although there are some suggestions that the old road bridge was also once a railway bridge.
