Inverclyde Council is the Highway Authority for all the roads in the western portion of the historic County of Renfrewshire, except the A8 and A78 which are managed by Transport Scotland. As of 2016, Government Statistics say that the council is responsible for 21.1 miles of A roads; 13.7 miles of B roads and 216.4 miles of other roads. There is an additional 14.2 miles of Trunk roads within the council area (A8 6 miles, A78 8.2 miles), which are maintained by Transport Scotland.

The council is responsible for the repair and maintenance of 224.9 miles (362km) of roads and 276.5 miles (445km) of footways within the Inverclyde area.
