Dundee City Council is the Highway Authority for all the roads in the city of Dundee except the A90, A972 and possibly part of the A92 which are managed by Transport Scotland. The council use Tayside Contracts to complete a lot of the roads maintenance work. Tayside Contracts originated as the DLO (Direct Labour Organisation) for the former Tayside Regional Council, and is now jointly owned by the three successor authorities as a separate contractor to carry out most of the work required by the councils, from bin collection to leisure centre staff. As of 2016, Government Statistics say that the council is responsible for 19.1 miles of A roads; 8.5 miles of B roads and 337 miles of other roads. There is an additional 9.8 miles of Trunk roads within the council area, which are maintained by Transport Scotland.
