The M21 is a disputed number for the section of motorway between the sliproads at Attyflin Junction, between where the N20 route TOTSOs onto the east-facing sliproads and where the west-facing sliproads merge in and end the motorway regulations.
The N21 is defined as "Between its junction with M20 at ATTYFLIN in the county of Limerick and its junction with N70 at Moyderwell in the town of Tralee", with capital letters identifying a motorway, thus 'M21'.
