The B3096 is a short B-road in north Devon. The road was unclassified for many years but gained its number in the late 1980s.
The road starts at a sharp corner on the B3042 just to the west of Chawleigh. The road is narrow from the outset and quickly descends the steep Chawleigh Hill to cross the Little Dart and enter the town of Chumleigh, the only place of any size en route.
The road climbs into the centre of town and zigzags through the narrow streets, explaining why the road was unclassified for so long. After passing along Fore Street there's an easy-to-miss TOTSO left into Leigh Road, which almost has the air of a back alley. The road widens out as we leave town and we head westwards, descending back into the valley of the Little Dart. The road ends at a T-junction on the A377.
