This article is about the current B3056 in the New Forest, Hampshire.
For the original B3056, which ran further west, see B3056 (Lyndhurst - Lymington).
For the original B3056, which ran further west, see B3056 (Lyndhurst - Lymington).
The B3056 runs through the heart of the New Forest National Park, and consequently has a 40mph limit along its entire stretch as it is unfenced for most of its route so it's not uncommon for the road ahead to be blocked by a pony. The road was originally unclassified, dating to around 1935.
The road starts on the A35 just east of the centre of Lyndhurst and runs in a straight line over heathland southeastwards to Beaulieu Road station on the South Western Main Line. There's then a short drive through some woodland before the road ends on the B3054 in Beaulieu just to the north of the village centre.
