A Classified Numbered road is a B-class road that is maintained by a local Highway Authority – as distinct from one maintained by a national government body, which is a Trunk road, of which there are a few.

An individually numbered B road may be in part a Classfied Numbered road and in part a Trunk road. It may furthermore be in part a Primary Route and in part a Non Primary Route, though Primary B-roads are extremely rare.

Classified Numbered roads make up more than 99% of the B-class network.
