A Local Access Road (LAR), known as a Frontage Road in the United States is a road which is typically provided alongside a newly built or upgraded major road for property accesses and/or for use by NMUs and agricultural machinery. Examples include sections of the A6055 and A168 next to the A1(M) through the north east of England.
