A Local Access Road (LAR), known as a Frontage Road in the United States is a road which is typically provided alongside a newly built or upgraded major road for property accesses and/or for use by NMUs and agricultural machinery. Examples include sections of the A6055 and A168 next to the A1(M) through the north east of England.
Older examples include unclassified property accesses alongside London's arterial routes, such as the A10, A4, and A3
